Ladybugs vs Aphids

Today I was finally able to get some ladybugs for the yard.  My milkweed plant has aphids, I battle them every day and hoped that the ladybugs would help me with this.  Wow, I was quite surprised to see how the ladybugs moved around, explored the plants, ate some aphids, ignored the small Monarch caterpillars,  mated a bit, and then flew around the yard a bit.  Very interesting.  How could I not use an extension tube and take some shots?

It’s been a rugged start for the milkweed plant, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that there is enough left to feed the Monarch caterpillars until they can form a chrysalis.
